The Mars Initiative exists to accelerate and inspire the first crewed expedition to Mars while ensuring that as many people as possible can participate in this monumental journey. By including the global public, we aim to make this historic event truly representative of humanity and build the momentum needed to make the dream of Mars exploration a reality.

Job Overview

The Mars Initiative Social Media & Community Manager will manage our social media and community presence, build brand awareness, and foster engagement across multiple platforms to amplify awareness and support of The Mars Initiative. This is a volunteer, remote position requiring a commitment of 5–10+ hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

● Manage and grow Mars Initiative’s social media accounts (X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn).

● Develop and schedule posts that align with campaigns and mission messaging.

● Engage directly with followers, space enthusiasts, and educators.

● Track and report on engagement metrics to guide strategy.

● Optional: Make recommendations and provide expertise on building and moderating a Mars Initiative online community (potentially through channels such as Discord or Reddit).

Qualifications

● Experience managing social media accounts (personal or organizational).

● Strong communication and community engagement skills.

● Familiarity with social platforms, scheduling tools, and analytics.

● Creative thinker with an interest in space/science communication.
