Job Description
LUMMI ISLAND WILD
Social Media and Content Manager
Part-time employee Bellingham / Whatcom County, WA $25–$32/hour
Help us tell a story worth sharing.
Lummi Island Wild is a small, independent seafood company with a big story to tell. Our roots are in reefnet fishing, a selective salmon harvesting method developed by Coast Salish peoples thousands of years ago. Today, we operate the world’s only solar-powered commercial fishery and bring exceptional wild seafood to customers across the country.
We care deeply about great food, responsible fisheries, and the people behind them. We’re looking for a creative, resourceful local storyteller to bring those stories to life online.
The opportunity: This is a hands-on role combining content creation with day-to-day management of our organic social media channels. You might capture a reefnet crew hauling salmon, edit a quick recipe video, spotlight a fisherman, or transform existing footage into a compelling Reel. You’ll have access to interesting people, beautiful locations, authentic stories, and an expanding library of photos and video.
You’ll have room to pitch ideas and experiment, while taking responsibility for planning, producing, and publishing content consistently.
What you’ll do:
- Create: Shoot, edit, and produce short-form video, photography, Reels, stories, and other social content.
- Manage: Plan, schedule, and publish organic content across our primary social channels.
- Tell stories: Feature our fishermen, fisheries, products, team, customers, and approach to sustainability.
- Collaborate: Coordinate with our small team and marketing partners on campaigns, promotions, and
- seasonal moments.
- Engage: Help foster a thoughtful, responsive community around wild seafood and responsible fishing.
- Learn: Track basic content performance, share insights, and test fresh ideas.
What you bring
- A portfolio demonstrating social content you personally created or managed, especially short-form video.
- The ability to shoot and edit engaging video independently, and write clear, natural captions.
- Working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, and evolving social formats.
- Good judgment, organization, reliability, and the initiative to move ideas through to publication.
- Comfort connecting with people and occasionally capturing content outdoors or on location.
- Local availability in or near Whatcom County.
Interest in food, fishing, sustainability, or the outdoors is a plus. A marketing degree is not required; strong work and follow-through matter more.
Flexible part-time employee position, with a mix of independent work and occasional in-person shoots around Whatcom County and Lummi Island. Hours may vary with content needs and the fishing season; some shoots may involve early mornings or outdoor conditions.
Pay is $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience.
How to apply
Please send a brief introduction, examples of content you personally created or managed (especially video), a note explaining your role in those examples, and your general availability. We’d also love to know why Lummi Island Wild interests you.
Real people. Real waters. Caught with respect.
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
Benefits
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Paid time off
