Job Description

Position summary

The Director of Communications and Social Media is a part-time position that supports the church’s mission by planning, creating, scheduling, and managing engaging social media content. This role helps strengthen community connection, promote upcoming events, and communicate key messages in alignment with church leadership and the church brand.

Key responsibilities

• Content creation: Prepare weekly written summary of church activities, concerns and information, write captions and create graphics and video concepts and ensure that posts reflect the church values and desired messaging.
• Content calendar: Build and maintain a weekly/monthly content plan for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and/or X (as assigned).
• Community engagement: Monitor comments/messages and respond in a timely, respectful manner (escalating to staff/leadership when needed).
• Weekly Digital Newsletter – Update/create our weekly e-newsletter including promo images for events and announcements. Coordinate with Office Administrator to facilitate production of the print newsletter.
• Prepare Weekly Video Stream – Prepare our worship streaming computer each week to be prepared for both the use of projector in the sanctuary and the online stream. Schedule, Train and Coordinate Volunteers to run the stream on Sundays.
• Brand consistency: Maintain consistent voice, tone, and visual style across all channels.
• Analytics & reporting: Track performance (reach, engagement, clicks, follower growth, video views) and provide simple monthly reports with recommendations.
• Compliance & quality: Ensure content follows copyright/licensing guidelines and meets any church policy requirements.
• On Call for Assistance – Occasionally being able to be on call and come to the building for troubleshooting or assistance for special events, staying within
