PART-TIME DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING ASSISTANT

POSITION SUMMARY

The Development & Marketing Assistant supports the shelter’s fundraising, sponsorship,

marketing, social media, and community outreach efforts. Working closely with the

Director of Development, this position helps promote the organization’s mission,

support communication with sponsors and donors, meet fundraising deadlines, and

support fundraising events and campaigns.

This is a primarily remote position, with approximately 90% of work performed

remotely. The employee will be expected to take part in periodic in-person meetings,

fundraising events, and other activities based on the schedule and needs of the Director

of Development and the organization.

The ideal candidate is organized, creative, dependable, loves fundraising, is comfortable

with social media and digital communication, and passionate about animal welfare and

the shelter’s mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing & Social Media

● Assist with developing and implementing marketing materials and promotional

campaigns

● Help design flyers, social media graphics, email promotions, event materials, sponsor

recognition materials, and other marketing pieces

● Promote shelter fundraising campaigns, events, sponsorship opportunities, and special

appeals through social media

● Assist with maintaining a consistent and positive image of the shelter across social

media and other communication platforms

● Assist with scheduling and organizing social media content

Fundraising & Sponsorship Support

● Help track fundraising deadlines, sponsorship commitments, donations, and campaign

deliverables

● Follow up with committed sponsors to obtain logos, advertisements, payments,

promotional materials, and other information needed to fulfill sponsorship agreements

● Maintain organized records of sponsor communications and commitments

● Assist with preparing sponsor recognition materials and ensuring sponsors receive the

recognition promised as part of their sponsorship

● Help identify opportunities to promote fundraising campaigns and increase community

participation

Event Support

● Attend and assist with shelter fundraisers, community events, donor events, and other

organizational activities as scheduled

● Assist with event setup, registration, promotional materials, sponsor recognition,

merchandise, raffles, and other event-related activities

● Help promote upcoming fundraising events before, during, and after the event

● Assist with gathering photographs, information, and content that can be used for future

marketing and fundraising

● Represent the shelter in a professional and positive manner at community events

QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, or Communication or equivalent experience

● Proven Experience with Marketing and Fundraising

● Proven graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe, and other platforms

● Experience managing social media marketing campaigns, including workflows

● Experience with Excel and CRM databases

● Strong organizational and time-management skills

● Ability to work independently in a remote environment

● Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Comfortable using all major social media platforms

● Experience with Canva or similar design programs

● Ability to communicate professionally with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community

members

● Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

● Passion for animal welfare and the mission of the shelter

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week
