COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ASSISTANT

The Art Effect empowers youth to develop their artistic voice to shape their futures and bring about positive social change. Based in Poughkeepsie, we help young people in the Hudson Valley explore, experience, and excel in the arts by introducing them to visual arts and media, giving them the opportunity to develop real skills in these fields, and guiding them towards achieving their academic and career goals. The Art Effect is looking for a part-time Marketing and Communications Assistant with excellent writing skills and graphic design experience to assist with promoting the mission and work of The Art Effect.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Art Effect’s part-time Communications and Marketing Assistant will contribute to a cutting-edge creative organization whose projects and campaigns make a positive impact in our community. This position is responsible for assisting with promoting the mission and work of The Art Effect. The successful candidate will assist with the organization’s marketing needs, including social media content, writing and formatting promotional emails, designing flyers and graphics, working at/ covering events, and flyering. The position requires outstanding organizational and planning skills, and a passion for the organization’s mission. The right candidate will be self-motivated and results-driven with proficient writing skills and graphic design experience. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for events/tablings. Positive “customer-service” attitude and eagerness to learn. Must have access to a vehicle.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Draft social media content promoting The Art Effects events, programs, and classes
• Utilize Adobe InDesign to design flyers, social media graphics, event journals, and more as needed
• Write, design, and format marketing emails for class enrollment, monthly newsletter, and other promotional needs
