About us

Hola Cultura is an award-winning nonprofit and online publication that celebrates the culture and contributions of Latinos living in the United States. We produce independent media coverage of our local communities in the Washington, D.C., and Boston, Massachusetts, metropolitan areas and report on national Latino arts, culture and societal issues. Through our work, we lift up Latino voices, break down barriers, and promote cross-cultural understanding. We also provide professional training in essential communication and digital workforce skills to Latino youth and young adults.

Your role

As the Social Media Fellow, you will play a key role in promoting our organization and the content of our bilingual online magazine. We’re looking for a talented digital storyteller to help shape, execute, and analyze social media campaigns that promote our organization, share our articles and cultural news with a diverse audience, and highlight topics or themes aligned with Hola Cultura’s brand.

You should have a deep understanding of the Latine community and demonstrate cultural sensitivity to ensure our storytelling is both accurate and respectful. You will also be expected to maintain a long-term vision and uphold high standards by providing constructive feedback on the work of your interns.

Requirements

• Availability for weekly online meetings every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (only two excused absences allowed).
• Prior experience in social media management, especially for news publications (required).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills - essential for remote work.
• Excellent writing skills for copywriting and content creation.
• Creative, proactive mindset with the ability to bring fresh ideas and think outside the box.
