Marketing Communications Coordinator

Position Overview

Create CommUNITY seeks a motivated, organized, and community-minded Communications Coordinator to support our anti-racism and equity work in Central Minnesota.

This is a part-time, independent contractor position with a workload that varies significantly from month to month. The position is busiest in the weeks surrounding our two signature annual events—the Conversation on Race and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast—and lighter during other periods.

The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Create CommUNITY Board of Directors and Advisory Council, as well as a dedicated team of volunteers who carry out much of the hands-on event work.

This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who is organized, communicative, comfortable with digital tools, and committed to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

Key Responsibilities

Basic Administrative & Organizational Tasks — Required

• Coordinate meeting times, agendas, meeting links, and locations for Board and Advisory Council meetings.
• Participate in Board and Advisory Council meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Assist with planning and promotion for Create CommUNITY's two major annual events—the Conversation on Race and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast—in partnership with event volunteers.
• Document hours worked and submit a monthly summary to the Board Co-Chairs and Treasurer.
• Support general administrative needs of the organization as they arise.

Digital Communications & Technical Tasks — Required

• Maintain and update the organization's website, currently built on Wix.
• Create and manage online forms, such as event registrations and surveys.
• Design and distribute newsletters and press releases.
• Promote Create CommUNITY through social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others as appropriate.
