Job Description
About Homeroom
Homeroom was founded in Oakland on a deep love for mac & cheese, community, and human-centered business practices, and our workplace innovations have earned national recognition from The New York Times, Forbes, The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Food Network. Founder & CEO Erin Wade is back to lead a turnaround: returning to our roots, elevating our food and hospitality, and rebuilding Homeroom into a stronger, joyful, and sustainable place to work and eat. We have two locations and about 60 team members.
The Role
We're simplifying our service, training new kitchen leaders, and launching a refreshed menu in early 2027. Our restaurant team will make the food and service great. We need someone to make sure people know it and come back.
As Marketing & Growth Manager, you'll own Homeroom's sales growth: our brand, our social media, our events and catering, and reconnecting with guests we haven't seen in a while. You'll work directly with Erin and set clear targets for what success looks like. For the right person, this role can be done in three days a week.
What You'll Own
- Brand and social media: Build a consistent voice and posting rhythm, including a content program with our own team capturing photos and video.
- Menu launch campaign: Plan and run the marketing for our refreshed menu launching in February–March.
- Guest win-back: Reconnect with lapsed guests through email, loyalty, local partnerships, and community events.
- Catering, events, and fundraisers: Grow these into steady revenue, planned with the restaurant team well in advance.
- PR and partnerships: Put Homeroom back in the local and national conversation.
- Delivery and online sales: Improve how we perform on online ordering and third-party platforms.
- Reporting: Track sales by channel and report weekly on what's working.
Who You Are
- 5+ years in restaurant, hospitality, or consumer brand marketing, with a track record of growing sales you can measure.
- Strong with social media, content, and local marketing, and comfortable doing the work yourself on a lean budget.
- Experience building catering, events, or partnership revenue is a strong plus.
- Organized and reliable: you plan ahead and give your partners in operations real notice.
- Energized by a turnaround and by a brand with a story worth telling.
How We'll Measure Success
- By month 3: a 2027 marketing and growth plan with channel targets; menu launch campaign ready.
- By month 6: measurable lift in catering, events, and returning guests.
- By month 12: strong, measurable sales growth across our channels.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
Benefits
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
