Content Marketing Manager

Remote, USPosted today

Job Description

About the role

We’re looking for someone to run content for every client account at our agency. You’ll find the topics, get them approved, write and edit, handle on-page SEO, publish, and report on results. You’ll also build and maintain the systems that keep all of it running smoothly.

Writing is part of the job, but the bigger part is owning the process. You’ll research and recommend topics, present them to clients, and then carry each piece through quality control, optimization, publishing, and performance tracking. If you mainly want to write and hand off the rest, this isn’t the right fit. If you like being the person who makes the content program work, keep reading.

Responsibilities

Planning and briefs

  • Own the editorial calendar across all client accounts and hit a monthly publishing/writing target
  • Conduct keyword and topic research; map each piece to search intent and a target page
  • Develop content topic recommendations and present them to clients for approval
  • Participate in onboarding meetings and regular reviews with clients to understand their business, audience, and voice

Production and editing

  • Fact-check claims, statistics, and citations; verify that every outbound link resolves and is credible
  • Match each client's voice and enforce a house style guide
  • Final proofread for grammar, formatting consistency, and no placeholder text shipped

SEO execution

  • Title tags, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, image alt text
  • Internal linking into money pages and between related posts
  • Keyword usage that reads naturally rather than stuffed
  • Identify existing posts worth refreshing and re-optimize them for current intent and rankings

Publishing

  • Format and publish in WordPress: featured images, categories, scheduling
  • QA every live post on desktop and mobile before it is called done

Reporting

  • Track content performance in Google Search Console and GA4
  • Report monthly to clients on rankings, traffic, and what the content is producing
  • Feed those results back into the following month's topic planning

Process ownership

  • Maintain the style guide, brief templates, and production documentation
  • Improve throughput and quality over time, and document the workflow so it survives turnover

Tools

WordPress, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, GA4, and Google Workspace. You should be proficient in using them.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional content experience, preferably at an agency or on an in-house content team
  • Practical keyword research skills and fluency with a research platform such as Semrush, Ahrefs, or comparable
  • Working knowledge of on-page SEO sufficient to execute it confidently
  • Comfort reading performance data and adjusting a content plan based on it
  • Client-facing communication skills. You will be in onboarding meetings and reporting conversations representing our agency
  • Strong writing, self-editing, and proofreading skills. You are the only set of eyes on this work before it publishes
  • Rigorous fact-checking discipline. Published inaccuracies under a client's name are a serious matter, and this role is the last line of defense against them
  • Proficiency in WordPress
  • Proven ability to work at production volume without quality degradation
  • Comfort operating independently against a calendar and a target, with minimal supervision

To move forward, please be ready to share

  • A short note (three paragraphs max) on why this role interests you and why you’re a fit
  • Links to three published articles you wrote, ideally in different voices or industries
  • One piece of yours that ranks in search, plus the query it ranks for (we’ll check)
  • A brief explanation of how you go from keyword research to a publishing plan
  • A sample of a performance report you’ve built
  • A realistic estimate of the monthly output you can sustain, and what affects it
