Social Media and Community Manager

Haines (haines.com) is a vital San Francisco art gallery known for its compelling exhibitions and roster of international artists. Haines is seeking a talented, Bay Area-based Social Media and Community Manager to foster visibility and engagement via its social channels.

The Social Media and Community Manager is an hourly-based, contractor position requiring approximately 8-10 hours / week, including weekly Zoom meetings. Exact hours will fluctuate depending on gallery activity and needs. Much of the work can be done remotely, but the Social Media and Community Manager is expected to attend and capture relevant gallery / art events, as well as traveling to gallery / artists studios to shoot videos.

Salary: $30-35 per hour, depending on experience.

SCOPE OF WORK

Strategy and Campaign Development

Plan and carry out social media campaigns around Haines Gallery’s exhibitions, artists, events, and other priorities, with the goal of increasing visibility and engagement.

Content Creation and Publishing

Produce, edit, schedule, and publish engaging, platform-native content across the gallery’s active social channels, primarily Instagram and Facebook, maintaining a consistent posting cadence across all active platforms. Content should include compelling short-form video, such as Reels featuring artists, studio visits, and exhibition walk-throughs, as well as other original content. Develop a mix of timely and evergreen content to sustain engagement when needed.

Maintain a thoughtful, informed voice consistent with the gallery’s identity, with particular attention to accuracy in references to artists, artworks, and exhibitions. Assess opportunities to expand Haines Gallery’s presence on TikTok and other emerging platforms.
