Job Description

SEO, AEO & Paid Media Strategist

Tapir | Marketing Agency Fully Remote

Tapir is hiring an additional experienced digital marketing strategist to lead SEO, answer engine optimization (AEO), and pay-per-click advertising across Google and social media for independent veterinary hospitals and animal health brands. Experience in all 3 areas is a must.

This role brings organic visibility and paid acquisition together. You’ll help clients get discovered in traditional search, strengthen their presence in AI-driven search experiences, and build paid campaigns that turn interest into meaningful business results. You’ll also work directly with clients to explain performance, identify opportunities, and guide their marketing strategy.

We’re looking for someone who understands how these channels work together and can take ownership of both strategy and execution.

What This Role Owns

SEO: Organic Search & Local Visibility

Our clients need to be visible when pet owners search for veterinary care. You’ll develop and execute SEO strategies that connect their services with the people looking for them.

Responsibilities include

  • Developing SEO strategies for individual practices and multi-location businesses.
  • Conducting keyword research based on search intent, services, and local market opportunities.
  • Optimizing website content, page titles, meta descriptions, internal links, and site structure.
  • Identifying technical SEO issues and collaborating with our developers to resolve them.
  • Improving Google Business Profile visibility, local listings, and location-specific content.
  • Using Google Search Console, GA4, and SEO tools to monitor performance and prioritize improvements.
  • Connecting organic search performance to qualified inquiries, appointment requests, and other business outcomes.

You should be comfortable identifying what needs to change, explaining why it matters, and working with our team to implement it.

AEO: Visibility in AI-Driven Search

As people increasingly use AI tools to research veterinary care, our clients’ content needs to clearly answer their questions and communicate the practice’s expertise.

Responsibilities include

  • Identifying the questions pet owners ask about services, symptoms, costs, and care options.
  • Developing content briefs and recommendations that address those questions clearly and accurately.
  • Structuring content so search engines and AI tools can understand the practice’s services, expertise, and location.
  • Recommending relevant structured data and coordinating implementation with our developers.
  • Strengthening consistency across websites, business profiles, and other sources of practice information.
  • Monitoring emerging AI-search opportunities and evaluating which changes are useful for clients.
  • Explaining the opportunities and limitations of AEO without promising placements or results we cannot control.

We want someone who builds on strong SEO fundamentals, tests thoughtfully, and can distinguish a meaningful opportunity from industry hype.

Google Ads: High-Intent Paid Acquisition

Google Ads is a priority channel for our clients. You’ll build and manage campaigns designed to reach people actively looking for the services they offer.

Responsibilities include

  • Building search campaigns around keyword intent, service priorities, and client goals.
  • Managing bidding, budgets, negative keywords, and search terms.
  • Applying location targeting, scheduling, and other settings that reflect each practice’s service area and availability.
  • Aligning ad messaging with landing pages and testing ways to improve conversion.
  • Implementing and validating conversion tracking, GA4, and call tracking.
  • Optimizing for qualified leads, cost per acquisition, and return on ad spend where reliable revenue data is available.
  • Coordinating paid search with organic SEO and local visibility strategies.

Google Ads Certification is required.

You must understand how to generate qualified opportunities and assess lead quality beyond click volume.

Social Media Advertising: Strategy, Creative & Conversion

You’ll lead paid social campaigns, particularly across Meta platforms, with clear objectives and a thoughtful approach to targeting and creative.

Responsibilities include

  • Building campaigns in Ads Manager across awareness, consideration, retargeting, and conversion objectives.
  • Developing audience strategies, including custom audiences and lookalikes where appropriate.
  • Implementing and validating relevant tracking, pixels, and events.
  • Creating testing plans for messaging, creative, audiences, and landing pages.
  • Monitoring lead quality and campaign performance beyond engagement metrics.
  • Recommending when paid social is an appropriate investment for a client’s goals.

Client Consulting & Growth Strategy

You’ll serve as a marketing advisor to clients, helping them understand what their results mean and where to focus next.

That includes

  • Recommending budget allocation across SEO, Google Ads, and paid social.
  • Identifying gaps in visibility, acquisition, and the website conversion experience.
  • Connecting marketing performance to practice priorities and available business data.
  • Presenting clear recommendations and explaining tradeoffs in everyday language.
  • Setting realistic expectations and proactively communicating progress.
  • Working with our content, design, and development teams to turn recommendations into action.

You should be comfortable speaking with practice owners and managers, answering questions, and guiding decisions.

Design & Creative Skills: A Major Plus (Not Required)

Strong design skills are a valuable advantage. The ability to develop ad creative, understand visual hierarchy, and quickly test variations will help you bring strategy and execution together.

You’ll have support from our team, but we welcome someone who can contribute directly to creative development.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SEO and Google Ads, with demonstrated results.
  • Current Google Ads Certification.
  • Proven experience managing Meta advertising campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of local SEO, on-page optimization, and technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of AEO and how content is discovered and interpreted by AI-driven search tools with the ability to execute.
  • Proficiency with GA4, Google Search Console, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and relevant SEO tools.
  • Experience implementing, auditing, and troubleshooting conversion tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence presenting strategy to clients.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and collaborate remotely.

Experience with WordPress, service-based businesses, or multi-location organizations is preferred. Veterinary or animal health experience is a plus.
