Engagement

independent contractor under a written statement of work. You set your own schedule, use your own tools for your craft, and are welcome to keep other clients; we agree on project priorities together and meet for a weekly check-in during Pacific business hours.

About the Role

Pacific Mind Health, one of Southern California’s leading psychiatric practices, already has specialists for web development, graphic design, paid ads, SEO, and content. We want the AI expert with broad, hands-on AI capabilities across marketing, who works with them to build the pipelines, automations, and AI tools that give the whole team AI leverage, and goes hands-on in whatever they’re best at, the way today’s leading AI marketing builders work in tools like Claude Code, n8n, and Clay.

The ideal candidate is curious, execution-oriented, and comfortable experimenting, and already uses AI as a force multiplier in their daily marketing work.

You don’t need every skill on this page.

No one has all of them. We want solid marketing fundamentals, broad AI fluency you can show, and real depth in one or two areas. Your first project will likely be an AI-assisted audit of our current marketing that becomes a prioritized optimization roadmap; if lead generation is your strength, a referral-partner outreach pipeline you own end to end may come first. Our Brand & Performance and SEO & Growth managers own strategy and budgets; you bring the AI builds, tools, and recommendations.

What You'll Build

AI marketing audit & optimization

  • With each specialist, build a repeatable AI audit workflow for how our marketing works today (campaigns and creative, website and conversion paths, content, email, tracking and reporting, tools, and workflows), checked against current best practices for healthcare marketing, and deliver a prioritized optimization roadmap with expected impact. Audits look at processes and results, not individual people
  • Turn business goals, audit findings, and new-location launches into campaign briefs, experiments, launch kits, and assets, and hand off the audit workflow so the team can re-run it

Lead generation & outreach (referral partners)

  • Design and build prospecting and enrichment pipelines for referral partners (therapists, physicians, schools, employers) from public registries, web scraping, and enrichment tools (Clay, Apollo, Apify, or equivalent), scored against our ideal-partner profile, with clean, documented datasets
  • Build AI-personalized, multichannel outreach automations (email, LinkedIn, and more) and partner collateral, set up deliverability, and score and hand off qualified partners in HubSpot to our business development team, who handle all replies, measured by qualified partner conversations

AI pipelines with our specialists

  • Ads: work with our paid-media partners, who run the accounts, on pipelines that turn our claims library and public ad-library research (Meta, Google, TikTok) into headline, copy, and creative variants; analyze creative performance to recommend what to iterate, scale, or retire; build a creative testing library of what worked; and recommend guardrails for AI-driven campaign types (Performance Max, Advantage+)
  • Design: work with our graphic designer, who owns final creative, to build AI image, video, and voice workflows for concepting, short-form video, voiceovers, and batch variants, including disclosed, non-testimonial AI presenters (Midjourney, Veo, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, or equivalent)
  • Web: work with our web developer on page drafts, copy variants, and A/B tests built with AI tools (Claude Code, Lovable, v0, or equivalent) in our approved systems; they review anything that goes live and handle structural work
  • Content & research: work with our SEO & Growth manager and content team on market, competitor, and audience research and repurposing pipelines, turning provider videos, podcasts, and articles into drafts for reels, posts, blogs, and newsletters; and build AI-search monitoring for our SEO & Growth manager (how ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews describe us)

Automation, reporting & handoff

  • Build agents, HubSpot workflows, and automations that chain tools together with error handling (Claude Code, n8n, Make, Zapier, or APIs), including AI pre-checks that flag risky claims before human review
  • Evaluate and build AI chat and voice agents (website chat, inquiry routing, call handling) as we decide to deploy them
  • Automate marketing reporting: clean tracking and naming conventions, dashboards with AI-assisted readouts and pacing alerts, and AI forecasting and budget scenarios for our managers, using aggregate reports from our data analysts for anything tied to practice data
  • Deliver brand-voice and claims context, prompt libraries, templates, and AI-tool evaluations, with documented how-to handoffs and short walkthroughs for the team at the end of each project

Hands-on in your specialty

where you’re an expert, you do the work yourself, alongside the owning specialist where one exists.

Who You'll Work With

Your primary point of contact is our Brand & Performance Marketing Manager. We agree on projects and deliverables in the statement of work; our marketing managers approve test plans, budgets, and what goes live, and you decide how to design and build. You’ll work alongside the specialists above, our data analysts, and our business development team.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on digital marketing, with working knowledge of how paid media, content, email, landing pages, analytics, and A/B testing fit together (depth in each is not required)
  • Broad AI fluency, not just chat: hands-on use of AI across several kinds of marketing work, such as assistants and agents, generative creative (image, video, voice), AI-built pages, and AI analysis and reporting
  • At least one multi-step AI workflow, automation, or build you personally made for marketing that a team or client used, shown through a portfolio or sanitized walkthrough
  • Real depth in one or two areas where you’d do hands-on work, such as marketing audits, automation, lead generation and outreach, AI creative pipelines, content, or marketing reporting
  • Data-literate judgment: you’re comfortable using performance data to decide what to do next, and you can explain what results do and don’t show
  • Strong copywriting and creative judgment, including knowing when AI output isn’t good enough
  • You pick up new AI and marketing tools quickly
  • You make the people around you better with AI: clear documentation and handoffs for the tools you deliver
  • An independent practice: you manage your own time and tools, hit agreed deadlines, and work well asynchronously

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Prospecting, list-building, or enrichment experience (Clay, Apollo, or similar), including outbound workflows you built
  • Agentic or automation tools: Claude Code, n8n, Make, Zapier, or APIs
  • HubSpot: workflows, lists, sequences, and reporting
  • AI chat or voice agents (Voiceflow, Vapi, Retell, or similar)
  • AI image, video, or presenter platforms, and creative testing that measurably improved results
  • Hands-on campaign experience in Google and Meta ads, and familiarity with GA4 and Google Tag Manager
  • You understand both creative and performance marketing and move easily between strategy, execution, and analysis
  • Healthcare or other regulated-industry marketing, where claims and data privacy require careful judgment

Our Values

  • Compassion – Empathetic, Patient-Centered Care
  • Growth – Continuous Learning & Employee Development
  • Integrity – Honesty, Trust, & Ethical practices
  • Teamwork – Collaboration & Respect
  • Excellence – Raising the Standard of Care
